Solutions to improve and maintain operations
– RS South Africa, a trading brand of RS Group plc (LSE: RS1), a global provider of product and service solutions, will exhibit at MTE Steelpoort in Limpopo on 31 August. It will showcase some of the most popular automation and control and safety equipment for mining and manufacturing from global brands.
Mining and Technical Exhibitions (MTE), a division of IMD Conferences Exhibitions and Workshops, celebrates its 30th birthday this year. It has made a name for itself since 1993 through many exhibitions at mines and industrial operations across Southern Africa.
“These MTE events afford us an opportunity to share the latest industrial technologies and solutions to design, build and maintain operations,” says Mellisa Govender, Marketing Director for RS. The company offers more than 750 000 products across 2 500 global brands that can be ordered online and delivered direct to customers anywhere in the country.
Private-label brand RS Pro will also be showcased at MTE Steelpoort – this range features over 88 000 products across different technologies. RS is well positioned to supply the mining industry with the quality and robust products it needs for its arduous and demanding operating conditions. It partners with its suppliers to offer specialised equipment that can be used in tough industrial environments like mining and general industry. This extends from test and measurement equipment (Fluke, Megger) to tooling (DeWalt, Wera), personal protective equipment (3M, Ansell), automation and electrification (Siemens, Schneider) and machine safety (Allen-Bradley, Eaton).
Steelpoort is located in the Sekhukhune District Municipality of Limpopo. The town is on the R555 road near the border of Mpumalanga, within relatively proximity to several major chrome and platinum mining operations.
Samancor Chrome maintains three mines in the area. namely Eastern Chrome, Tubatse Ferrochrome and Tubatse alloys. Eastern Chrome Mines comprises of three underground mines, two opencast mines, four surface beneficiation plants and four tailings retreatment plants.
Tubatse Ferrochrome mainly produces charge chrome using six submerged arc furnaces, one metal recovery plant and a pallet and sintering plant. Tubatse alloys, jointly acquired in 2017, comprises two closed submerged arc furnaces, two semi-closed submerged arc furnaces, a pelletising and sintering plant (PSP) and a metal recovery plant.
A joint venture between African Rainbow Minerals and Implats, Two Rivers Platinum Mine is 35 km southwest of Burgersfort. Two on-reef decline shafts and a concentrator plant comprise the underground operation and a fully mechanised bord-and-pillar method is used to extract from the UG2 orebody.
