Atlas Copco pushes the employee health and safety narrative during World Safety Day celebrations!

Taking care of the health and safety of their employees is a tenet of Atlas Copco and celebrating World Safety Day 2023 is an annual event that is never missed. World Safety Day was observed worldwide on 28 April, and it continues to promote the principle and right of a safe and healthy work environment.

The topics for Atlas Copco this year were self-care, a healthy work-life balance, and protecting the environment. The Atlas Copco Industrial South Africa celebration included an interactive, innovative, fun, and memorable theme of ‘Sustainable Living’. During the ‘We Care About Sustainability’ workshop, employees were educated on waste management and the importance of recycling measures in the workplace. As employees lined up for wellness testing, they were allowed to participate in an exercise activity called a ‘Smoothie Bike’ or a ‘Tri-Pod’.

“The official opening of our ‘Let’s Thrive’ gym was another exciting event in line with the ‘Our Well-Being’ Framework initiative for 2023,” says Wendy Buffa-Pace, MD – Atlas Copco Industrial South Africa (Pty) Ltd. and Vice President: Sub-Saharan Africa. “Although we had fun on this commemorative day, we also remember the serious side – a reminder for us all that not only is a safe and healthy working environment a right but it contributes to motivated and productive employees, ultimately to the benefit of business sustainability.”

The event was organized by team Ubunye, Atlas Copco Industrial South Africa’s event organizing team, who put together and facilitated a fantastic program for all employees to enjoy. Wendy concludes, “A huge thank you and congratulations to the organizing team for yet another successful event!”
